Florida CNA License Lookup & Verification
Search Florida CNA certification in the MQA portal. For formal verification, use Florida's license-certification process—not Nursys, which the Board reserves here for RN and LPN verification.
Official records
Choose the result you actually need
Portal owner: Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance
Covers: Florida Certified Nursing Assistant certificates and other MQA-regulated health professions
Do not send a Florida CNA request through Nursys
The Florida Board describes Nursys verification for RN and LPN; CNA formal verification uses Florida MQA.
The NLC does not cover CNA certification
Compact multistate authority concerns qualifying RN and LPN licenses, not a Florida CNA certificate.
Before you search
Have the right information ready
Best preparation
- Choose Board of Nursing and Certified Nursing Assistant
- Use fewer fields first to avoid filtering out the correct record
- Have the certificate holder's current or former legal name, or certificate number when available
Search options documented
- Board or council
- Profession
- License or certificate number
- Last name and first name
- City, county and ZIP code
- Practicing or non-practicing status
Know the limits
- Nursys and the Nurse Licensure Compact do not cover CNA certification
- A public MQA result is not a certified document sent to another agency
- Location and status filters can hide the intended result
Portal-specific walkthrough
How to complete the Florida CNA search
Open Florida's MQA portal
Select Board of Nursing, then Certified Nursing Assistant. Do not select RN, LPN or APRN for a CNA certificate.
Begin with the certificate number or name
Use the strongest identifier available. If searching by name, start without city, county, ZIP or status filters.
Broaden before deciding there is no record
Florida advises using fewer fields. Retry former or maiden names and remove optional filters.
Review status and public cases
Confirm the result says Certified Nursing Assistant and matches the intended person. Open any public complaint or disciplinary information shown in the official record.
Use MQA certification for formal requests
If another agency needs an official verification rather than a public screen, use Florida's license-certification request and confirm the current fee before ordering.

What the result can tell you
Fields or record details documented in this workflow
- Certified Nursing Assistant profession
- Certificate identity and current status
- Public disciplinary cases or complaints associated with the record
- Additional public record details supplied by MQA
- Practicing status filter
- Florida groups several statuses in this search category. Always read the exact CNA status on the individual result rather than interpreting the filter label as an unrestricted certificate.
- Non-practicing status filter
- This category includes records such as Null and Void, Retired or Closed. Contact MQA for the consequence of a specific CNA record.
- Public case indicator
- Florida says the verification service can show disciplinary cases or public complaints. Open the record or request the underlying public documents for context.
This guide explains published terms; only the responsible regulator can determine the legal effect of a specific record.
No record found?
Work through this checklist before drawing a conclusion
- Confirm that Certified Nursing Assistant is selected as the profession.
- Remove city, county, ZIP and status filters.
- Retry the current name and former or maiden name separately.
- Check the certificate number for transcription errors.
- Contact Florida MQA rather than using Nursys, which does not cover CNA certificates.
A missing search result is not, by itself, proof that a person has never held a Florida credential.
Public lookup vs. formal verification
Choose the process the receiving organization requires
The Florida Board's FAQ separates CNA and APRN verification from RN/LPN Nursys requests. Use Florida MQA's certification request when a receiving agency needs formal CNA verification.

$25 per verification when checked

CNA public cases are surfaced through Florida's MQA records
The Board says the License Verification service can identify public complaints or disciplinary cases. Use Florida's public-records process when the underlying document is not available directly from the result.

Questions from this workflow
Florida CNA lookup questions
Can I verify a Florida CNA in Nursys?
No. Florida's Board directs RN and LPN verification to Nursys but gives CNA and APRN a Florida MQA verification route. Use the MQA public search or formal certification request as appropriate.
Why is a Florida CNA missing from the MQA search?
First confirm the Certified Nursing Assistant profession, then remove optional location and status filters. Florida recommends fewer fields to produce more results. Retry former names and contact MQA if the record still cannot be resolved.
Does Florida's compact membership apply to CNAs?
No. Florida's NLC information applies to RN and LPN multistate licenses. CNA certification remains a Florida credential without NLC practice privileges.
How do I obtain an official Florida CNA verification?
Use Florida MQA's license-certification request rather than relying on a screenshot. The Board's published FAQ lists a $25 verification fee and an approximate 10-day mail-processing estimate when checked; verify current details before submitting.
